Why Module II breaks people
The cognitive demand is different. Module I rewards knowing things. Module II rewards reading a hospital's situation under pressure and answering integrated questions that span multiple finance topics. Most candidates have never been taught the case-reading framework that makes this manageable in 22 minutes per case.
Module I
- 75 multiple-choice questions
- 90 minutes (~72 sec/question)
- Tests recall and recognition
- ~70-75% pass threshold
- What candidates fear: the pace
Module II
- 8 cases × 7 questions = 56 items
- 3 hours (~22 min/case)
- Tests application across topics
- 65% pass threshold
- What candidates fear: endurance

Frequently asked
Do I need to have passed Module I first?
No. You can buy Module II prep at any time. But the content assumes Module I knowledge — if you haven't built it yet, get the Module I prep program first (or the bundle), then come back to Module II.
How is this different from the HFMA-provided Module II prep?
HFMA provides content and a study guide. This program is a structured drilling environment — the case-reading framework, the timed mock simulator, the per-question rationales at exam depth — that no official HFMA product delivers in this form. Most candidates use both.
What if I fail the exam on my first sit?
You keep lifetime access. The cases don't expire, and Walter adds new material periodically that you'll get automatically. Failure on the first sit is a setback, not a financial loss.
How long does it take to work through the full program?
Most candidates spend 8-12 weeks: 4-5 weeks reading the cases and working untimed, 3-4 weeks drilling timed single-cases, and 2-3 weeks doing full mocks. The "Case-Reading Framework" tab gives you the recommended schedule.
Will the bundle save me money?
Yes — the bundle is $899 vs $1,098 for both modules separately ($599 + $499). The $199 savings is real. If you know you want both, take the bundle.
Can I get a refund?
Lifetime-access digital products are generally non-refundable. Reach out before you buy if you have questions — Walter is responsive.
